Tyres
The tyre register follows every tyre from the delivery to the scrap yard: on which wheel of which vehicle it is, how many kilometres it has done, how much tread is left and what it costs per kilometre. A tread check at or below your company threshold turns the tyre amber and raises a note, so a worn tyre is changed before the next trip.
Before you start
- Your organization has the TMS add-on. The register is Fleet, Workshop, Tyres; each wheel is also on the vehicle card, tab Health.
- Everyone can look at the tyres. Receiving tyres and recording what happens to them needs a role that may change TMS data with the Fleet module. Removing a tyre from the register and setting the tread threshold are an admin's.
- Kilometres come from the vehicle's odometer. Keep it up to date, or link telematics (see The vehicle card).
- The wheels come from the number of Axles in the vehicle data.
The Tyres tab
- Receive tyres is the main button. The ⋯ menu holds Tread threshold (admins).
- Search by "Serial number, DOT, brand, size or plate".
- Filter by Status, and the quick filter Low tread.
- The summary counts, for example, "12 in stock", "16 mounted", "2 with low tread".
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Tyre | Brand, model, size and serial number ("No serial number" when there is none), and the kind. |
| Where | The vehicle and the wheel, for example "PO 5KM21, Axle 2 left outer", or where it is kept. |
| Km | The kilometres it has done on every vehicle together. |
| Tread | The last tread reading, amber at or below the threshold, red at 1.6 mm. |
| Cost per km | Its price plus the costs of its events (retreading, repairs) divided by the kilometres done. |
| Status | One of the statuses below. |
Statuses
| Status | Means | What can happen next |
|---|---|---|
| In stock | In your store, ready to mount. | Mount, tread check, retreading, complaint, scrap. |
| Mounted | On a wheel. | Tread check, take off, move to another wheel, retreading, complaint, scrap. |
| Taken off, stored | Off the vehicle, kept for later (for example winter tyres). | Mount, tread check, retreading, complaint, scrap. |
| At the retreader | Sent to retreading. | Back in stock, scrap. |
| Sent back as a complaint | Returned to the supplier. | Back in stock, scrap. |
| Scrapped | Final. "A scrapped tyre keeps its history; nothing more can happen to it." | Nothing. |
The kinds are Steer, Drive, Trailer and All position.
Receiving tyres
"One kind of tyre at a time: the serial numbers make that many tyres in the register."
- Click Receive tyres.
- Fill in the tyre and its price.
- Type the Serial numbers, one per line, or the Number of tyres when they have no serial numbers.
- Click Receive 4 tyres. They land In stock.
| Field | What it means | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Brand, Model | The brand is required. | Michelin, X Multi D |
| Size | Required. | 315/70 R22.5 |
| Kind | Steer, Drive (default), Trailer or All position. | Drive |
| DOT | "Week and year of production, e.g. 2325". | 2325 |
| Tread of a new tyre (mm) | Up to 40 mm. | 16 |
| Price per tyre (net), Currency | The purchase price, which the cost per km starts from. | 1 450.00 PLN |
| Serial numbers | "One per line; each line is one tyre". A serial number can be in the register once. | 4471, 4472, 4473, 4474 |
| Number of tyres | "When the tyres have no serial numbers". | 4 |
| Parts catalogue item | "Optional: the tyre in your stock list (no stock movement is made)". | Michelin X Multi D 315/70 R22.5 |
| Where it is kept | For example "Rack 3". | Rack 3 |
| Note | Anything to remember. | Invoice FV 812/10 |
You receive 1 to 100 tyres at once: "At most 100 tyres at once". A serial number already in the register is refused: "Serial number 4471 is already in the register."
One tyre and its history
Click a tyre to open it on the side:
- Km done and "12 400 km on this vehicle" while it is mounted.
- Tread, with the company threshold, or "Not measured yet".
- Cost per km, "Cost 1 450.00 PLN", or "No km yet".
- Price, Invoice, Times retreaded, Last check, Received.
- History: "Received, tread 16 mm", "Mounted on PO 5KM21, Axle 2 left outer at 398 200 km", "Check: tread 6.5 mm, 8.2 bar", "Moved Axle 2 left outer to Axle 2 right outer (5 400 km done)", "Taken off …", "Sent to retreading", "Back in stock", "Scrapped".
The actions under More are the ones the status allows. Edit changes the tyre's data and serial number; Remove from the register (admins) is "Only for a tyre entered by mistake. Its history stays in the journal." A mounted tyre must be taken off before it can be removed.
Recording what happens
Each action opens a short form. The time can be up to an hour ahead, never later.
| Action | Form | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Mount | Tyre (in stock or stored), Vehicle, Wheel ("Choose a free wheel"), Odometer (km) ("Empty: the vehicle reads 412 300 km now"), Note. | Mounted. A wheel holds one tyre: "Wheel 2LO of PO 5KM21 already has a tyre (4471). Take it off first." |
| Tread check | Tread (mm) (up to 40) and/or Pressure (bar) (up to 15), Odometer (km), Cost (net). | A new reading. "Enter the tread or the pressure." |
| Take off | After taking it off: Store it for later or Back to stock, the odometer. | Taken off, stored or In stock, with the kilometres of that mount added. |
| Move to another wheel | The Wheel, and Swap with the tyre on that wheel. | The same vehicle, another wheel. |
| Send to retreading | Cost, note. | At the retreader. |
| Back in stock | Cost, note. | In stock. Coming back from retreading adds one to Times retreaded. |
| Complaint to the supplier | Cost, note. | Sent back as a complaint. |
| Scrap | Note. | Scrapped, for good. |
A move a status does not allow is refused: "This tyre cannot do that in its current state." The kilometres of a mount are the odometer at the end minus the odometer at the start; an unknown odometer adds nothing rather than a guess.
A newer reading always wins. When readings are typed out of order, the tread with the latest time is the tyre's tread; an older one goes into the history only.
The tread threshold
⋯, Tread threshold (admins): "A check at or below this depth turns the tyre amber and raises a note in Needs attention." The Threshold (mm) is 3 mm by default, between 1.6 and 20 mm ("The legal minimum is 1.6 mm"). Quanty uses 1.6 mm as the legal minimum for every vehicle; confirm the minimum that applies to your vehicles and countries.
| Tread | What you see |
|---|---|
| At or below the threshold | Amber, and an issue: "Tread 2.8 mm is at or below the company threshold of 3 mm. Plan a tyre change." |
| At 1.6 mm or less | Red, an urgent issue: "Tread 1.6 mm is at the legal minimum of 1.6 mm. Change the tyre before the next trip." |
The vehicle's Health shows the same finding in the Tyres area ("Tread on tyre 2 left outer: 2.8 mm").
A wheel on the Health tab
On the vehicle card, Health, the schematic Tyres from above shows every wheel; "Choose a wheel on the picture to see its tyre." Wheel 2LO then shows the tyre, "Tread 6.5 mm", "48 200 km on the tyre", "checked 28.10.2026" and Tyre history, with Tread check, Move to another wheel and Take off. An empty wheel says "No tyre from the register on this wheel." with Mount a tyre. With telematics that reports tyres, the wheel also shows pressure and temperature.
Wheels are named by axle and side: left and right, or on twin wheels left outer, left inner, right inner and right outer.
Good to know
- Tyres bought on an invoice can also go through the parts store: an item of the category Tyres issued to a vehicle books a tyres cost on it (see The parts store). The register itself makes no stock movement.
- A defect reported on a wheel goes to the workshop as a service order of the kind Tyres (see The workshop). A tyre service order can carry a warranty date; a later tyre repair inside it raises Warranty claim possible (see Damages and warranties).
- A tyre whose costs are in two currencies shows no cost per km, because the costs cannot be added without a rate.
Kilometres need an odometer
The km of a tyre come from the odometer at mounting and at taking off. Type the reading in the form, or let telematics keep the vehicle's odometer up to date; otherwise the km of that mount stay unknown.
