Cabotage, return to base and tachograph files

The Mobility package blocks on the vehicle card and the driver's card count what international transport asks you to watch: cabotage in each country, the vehicle's return to its operating centre, the driver's return home and the tachograph downloads. The driver's Working time tab keeps his tachograph files and the driving times your telematics reports. Everything here is an estimate from orders, absences and telematics, there to show you what to check in time.

Before you start

  • Your organization has the TMS add-on. The blocks are on the vehicle card (Overview, powered vehicles) and the person card (Overview and Working time, drivers only).
  • Everyone can see them. Setting the base, marking returns and uploading tachograph files needs a role that may change TMS data with the Fleet module. Changing or deleting an operating centre and deleting a tachograph file are an admin's.
  • Cabotage and returns read your own-fleet orders, the sets, the absences and telematics. Driving times need telematics that reports them, with the driver linked (see TMS people, trips and working time).

On the vehicle

The vehicle card Overview with the Mobility package: cabotage in Germany over the limit, no operating centre, the tachograph not yet downloaded with Upload the vehicle unit file, and Set the base

The Mobility package of a tractor shows three lines and "An estimate from the orders and telematics".

Cabotage

One line per country where the vehicle did cabotage:

LineMeans
"Cabotage in Germany: 2/3 until 25.10"Two of three cabotage operations used in the current stretch.
"Cabotage in Germany: 3/3, then a break until 29.10"All used; the break that follows.
"Cabotage in Germany: a break until 29.10"The break runs.
"Cabotage in Germany over the limit"More operations than the count allows: an issue is raised.

Quanty counts three cabotage operations in seven days, followed by a four-day break in that country. The counting rules are marked to verify in the app.

The operating centre and the return to base

  • "Base: Komorniki (since 01.03.2026)", with Change the base, or "No operating centre" with Set the base.
  • "Return to base in 12 days", "Return to base today" or "Return to base late by 3 days". "Has not left the country since its last visit at the base" when there is nothing to count.
  • "Last at the base 14.10.2026", with where Quanty knows it from: "telematics", "a stop of an order", "marked by hand" or "the day it got the base".
  • Mark the return to base records a visit by hand: "Return to base marked."

Quanty counts a return every 8 weeks and warns from the seventh week; a due return raises an issue.

Set the base opens Operating centre: pick the Base from your bases, No base, or New base from a saved place with the Name of the base, the Saved place (from Places) and From. "The base must be in the country where the company is established: only such a base counts for the vehicle's return every 8 weeks."

The tachograph download

"Tachograph downloaded 23 days ago", "Tachograph downloaded today", "Tachograph download late by 4 days" or "The tachograph has not been downloaded in Quanty yet", with Upload the vehicle unit file. Quanty counts a download of the vehicle unit every 90 days and warns 7 days before.

On the driver

The return home of a driver

The driver's Mobility package shows "Home in 6 days", "Home today", "Home overdue by 15 days" or "At home, or no trips abroad since", with Mark the return home ("Return home marked.").

"Home or the base every 4 weeks: an estimate from absences, orders and telematics." Quanty says plainly what it does not count: "An estimate: we count 4 weeks; Quanty does not yet spot the shorter limit after two reduced weekly rests." A stop of at least 45 hours at an operating centre counts as being home. It warns 4 days before, and a due return raises an issue.

"Posting this month" lists the countries and days of the driver's postings ("Germany: 2 days", see Posting declarations).

The Working time tab

Working time.
The Working time tab of a driver: Tachograph files with the card download state, The last 28 days, and Upload DDD files

Tachograph files

The first line says when the driver card was last downloaded: "Card downloaded 12 days ago", "Card downloaded today", "Card download late by 2 days" or "The card has not been downloaded in Quanty yet", and "Next download by 14.11.2026". Quanty counts a driver card download every 28 days and warns 7 days before.

Each file shows its kind (Driver card or Vehicle unit), "Downloaded 17.10.2026", where it came from ("uploaded", "GBOX", "Eurowag", "from telematics (Inelo GBOX)") and Open. "No files yet. Download the driver card at least every 28 days and upload the file here."

Uploading DDD files

  1. Click Upload DDD files (on the vehicle card: Upload the vehicle unit file).
  2. Choose one or several files: .ddd, .esm, .tgd, .c1b, .v1b, .dtco or .zip, up to 20 MB each.
  3. Quanty uploads them one by one ("Uploading 2 of 5…") and sums up: "Added: 3 · already there: 1 · refused: 1".
  • A file already in Quanty is skipped. A file registered for another driver or vehicle is refused.
  • A vehicle unit file belongs on the vehicle card and a driver card file on the driver card: "other kind of file: 1". "A vehicle unit file is uploaded on the vehicle card, a driver card file on the driver card."
  • Quanty keeps the files with their download dates; it does not read what is inside them.
  • The files are private in Files, and every opening is written to the history. An admin can delete a file from the register; the file itself stays in Files.

Now and the last 28 days

With telematics that reports driving times, for a driver linked to the telematics driver:

  • Now: Until the break, Driving left today, Driving left this week, Daily rest in, Weekly rest in, Extensions to 10 h left and Reduced daily rests left, with where the reading comes from: "Read from telematics (Inelo GBOX) at 10:42", or "Read from a tachograph file". An old reading is marked "An old reading".
  • The last 28 days: one line a day, "Mon 26.10: driving 8 h 40 min" or "no data", with "weekly rest" and "reduced weekly rest" marked.

"Driving time comes from the remaining times telematics reports: an estimate, not the tachograph record." When a tachograph file and telematics describe the same day, the file counts first. "Working-time days are kept for 12 months, then deleted." Whether telematics readings are kept at all is the admins' switch Keep drivers' working times (see Telematics (GPS)).

The People list shows the last card download in the Card column, and the side panel of a driver "Driving left today: 4 h 20 min".

Issues

The mobility package raises issues for:

  • cabotage over the limit;
  • a vehicle's return to base and a driver's return home that fall due;
  • a tachograph download that falls due, once your organization has any tachograph file in Quanty;
  • a posting without a declaration (see Posting declarations).

Estimates, not rulings

Cabotage, return and download figures are estimates from your orders, absences and telematics, and the counting rules are marked to verify. They help you see what to check; they are not the tachograph record and not legal advice.
