Slide layouts and themes
Every slide of a presentation has a layout. The Add tab lists the layouts in three groups, Structure, Content and Data; click one to add it after the selected slide. Select a slide to change it in Slide settings: Data for where its values come from, Appearance for its text and pictures. Theme changes the look of the whole deck.
Before you start
- Changing slides and themes needs edit rights on the deck (members and admins).
- The organization theme is set by an admin in the organization's settings.
Layouts
| Group | Layout | What it is for | Main settings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Structure | Title | The opening slide. | Title, Subtitle, Background picture |
| Structure | Section | A divider that opens a part of the deck. | Title, subtitle, background picture |
| Structure | Closing | The last slide, for a thank-you or next steps. | Title, subtitle, background picture |
| Content | Text and picture | Text or points next to a picture. | Title (optional), Text, Points, Picture, Picture side (Left or Right) |
| Content | Insights | The key findings as points, up to 8. | Title, points (Add bullet) |
| Content | Picture | One picture over the slide. | Picture, How the picture fills the slide, Caption |
| Content | Quote | A quotation with who said it. | Quotation, Who said it, Label above the quote (optional), background picture |
| Content | Comparison | Two or three panels side by side. | Each panel: Heading, Colour, Points |
| Data | KPIs | Key numbers, up to 6. | Each metric: label, value, Number format, Unit (Add metric) |
| Data | Chart | One chart of any of the ten kinds. | The chart's data and options, as on a dashboard |
| Data | Table | Rows and columns of values, up to 12 rows and 6 columns. | Columns, Rows, Add column, Add row |
| Data | Dashboard | Widgets of an existing dashboard. | Dashboard, Widgets |
New slides start with placeholder text, such as "Write the main point of this slide here." or "Put the quotation here.", that you replace. Text fields take Markdown: # heading, **bold**, - list, [link](https://example.com).
KPIs, charts and tables from a table
On KPIs, Chart and Table slides, the Data tab binds the slide to a table in the same way as a dashboard widget: Source table, Labels (group by), Value, Aggregation, Sorting and Item limit (Top N) (see Dashboard widgets). A bound slide follows Refresh data. A chart on a slide shows up to 12 points and up to 4 series; stacked charts and radar need two to four series ("This chart type compares two to four series. Add another series.").
Comparison
"A comparison holds two or three panels, each with up to six points." Each panel has a Heading ("Every panel needs a heading.") and a Colour: Neutral, Positive or Negative. Add panel and Remove panel change the number of panels.
Dashboard
A Dashboard slide shows widgets of a dashboard of your organization. Pick the Dashboard and tick the Widgets; "A slide fits at most 8 widgets". Under the list the settings say how many fit, for example "6 of 8 fit on the slide", and mark the rest does not fit: "To fit more, give the widgets smaller sizes on the dashboard or pick fewer of them." A slide without a dashboard says "This slide has no dashboard yet. Pick one before saving".
Pictures and backgrounds
Slides take pictures the same way dashboards do: "Drop an image here, paste it, or click to choose one", in PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP up to 5 MB, or a link to a picture.
| Setting | Choices |
|---|---|
| How the picture fills the slide | Fill the slide or Show all of it. |
| Text over the picture (Title, Section, Closing and Quote) | Dark veil: "The picture is darkened and the text turns white." Light veil: "The picture is lightened and the text turns dark." No veil: the picture stays untouched and the text sits beside it or on a card. |
| Caption | A line under the picture ("e.g. Terminal in Gdansk, March 2026"). |
The deck theme
Theme in the panel (or the palette in the header) changes this deck only: "Changes here apply to this deck only and are saved with it."
| Setting | Choices |
|---|---|
| Presets | Organization, Midnight, Ocean, Forest, Sand, Plum. |
| Mode | Light or Dark. |
| Accent colour | Organization or Custom colour. |
| Background | Organization or a custom colour. "Text and surface colours follow the background, so the text always stays readable." |
| Chart colours | The palette of the deck's charts (Add colour, Remove colour). |
| Font | Organization font, Instrument Sans, Source Serif, System font, Georgia, IBM Plex Mono. |
| Accent bar | Shown or Hidden. |
| Name next to the logo and Footer text | Text on every slide; empty means As in the organization theme. |
Reset to organization theme removes the deck's own theme. A deck without one says "This deck uses the organization theme."
The organization theme
An admin sets the organization's look in Settings: under the organization, Presentation theme ("applies to every generated deck"): Slide style (Light or Dark), Brand color, Slide background, Text color, Chart colors, Company name ("Shown on every slide") and Slide footer, with a Live preview. "Editing it restyles all existing and future decks." Under Presentations, Presentation logo sets the logo on slides and dashboards ("PNG, JPG, SVG or WebP, up to 2 MB"); by default it is the organization's logo.
A deck with its own theme keeps it; every other deck, including its share page, follows the organization theme.
Good to know
- Empty slides wait. A slide with nothing on it says "This slide is empty. Write some text, add a point or choose a picture." and the deck is not saved until it is filled in or deleted.
- Charts are the dashboard's charts. The ten chart kinds and their options are described in Dashboard widgets.
- A deck of up to 40 slides. Add says so when the deck is full.
