Tables, files, dashboards and decks from chat
Besides answering, the AI assistant does work: it changes the table you have open, writes files, and builds or edits dashboards, presentations and Kanban boards. It does the same things you can do by hand, with your rights, and it asks before anything that deletes or reaches outside.
Before you start
- The work is billed in AI credits, like every answer (see Billing and credits).
- The assistant changes only what you may change. Viewers cannot use the AI assistant.
- Actions that delete or create larger things wait for your approval in chat (see Confirmations).
Work on the open table
With a table open, the message box shows Working with and the table, and explains: "The assistant sees this sheet. From chat it adds rows and columns, edits cells, assigns people from your team, creates views (calendar, timeline, Kanban) and automations that notify people or update data on their own."
| You ask | It does |
|---|---|
| "Summarize what's in this sheet" | Reads the table and answers. |
| "Add a column that classifies each row by delay risk" | Adds an AI column, which then runs on the rows (see Columns and AI). |
| "Create a margin column: @Fracht EUR minus @Koszt, in EUR with 2 decimals, with a sum at the bottom" | A column that reads other columns by their @ names, with its number format and a total. |
| "Add a column with each company's current CEO from the web" | A column that reads the internet, with sources per cell. |
| "Delete the rows where Status is empty" | Deletes them after you confirm. |
| "Run the AI columns on the new rows" | Runs them after you confirm. |
| "Build a timeline from the date column" | Creates a view after you confirm. |
| "Assign Piotr to the first row" | Fills in a person column. |
| "Notify me when a row's status changes" | Proposes an automation, created after you confirm (see Triggers and automations). |
While it works, each step shows: "Reading the spreadsheet...", "Adding rows...", "Updating cells...", "Adding a column...", "Running AI extraction...". An empty conversation next to a table suggests starters such as "Summarize what's in this sheet" and "Assign a team member to the first row".
A table in an answer can become a new page of a table: Insert as sheet page asks for the project, the table and the Page title ("Columns: 4 · Rows: 12") and Insert page adds it ("Page created").
Skills with /
Type / in the message box to pick a skill for this message ("Type / to use a skill"). The Generate group comes first: Generate a dashboard, Generate slides, Generate a Word document, a command for an Excel file, and Generate a PowerPoint file. Your organization's own skills follow under Skills. Keep typing to narrow the list; the chosen skill shows in the box and Remove skill takes it away.
Picking a skill is optional: the assistant loads one by itself when your request matches its description. A skill never gives the assistant more rights than it has without it. See Skills.
The checklist and the steps
For work with several steps, the assistant writes its plan as a Checklist above the message box and ticks the items off: To do, In progress, Done, and "2 of 5 done" in the header. Hide the checklist / Show the checklist fold it.
Each step appears in the answer as a chip coloured by its kind: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PDF, table, dashboard, presentation, web, files, agent or skill. A running chip shows its stage: Reading the data, Planning, Calculating, Building, Saving.
Files the assistant writes
Ask for a file and the assistant writes it:
| Format | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Word (DOCX) | Reports, offers, letters, memos |
| Excel (XLSX) | Tables with number formats, totals and charts |
| PowerPoint (PPTX) | A deck as a file |
| Markdown, text, CSV | Plain formats for other tools |
| PDF or PPTX of a presentation | An export of a Quanty presentation |
A finished file shows as a card with Download and Open in Files. Every file is saved in Files: in the project's Generated folder when the conversation belongs to a project, otherwise in Generated by AI.
Edit the open dashboard, deck or board
With a dashboard, a presentation or a Kanban board open, the assistant works on exactly that one ("current dashboard", "current presentation", "current Kanban board"):
- "Add a KPI with the number of late orders and put it first"
- "Turn the chart on slide 3 into stacked columns"
- "Filter the dashboard to carriers from Poland"
- "Move the Baltic Foods card to Gotowe"
It adds, changes, moves and removes widgets and slides, binds them to tables, sets filters and changes pictures; on a board it moves and adds cards. Deleting a dashboard, a deck or a board always waits for your confirmation. If the assistant changes a dashboard or deck while you have unsaved edits, the editor tells you and offers Load their version.
New dashboards and decks can be asked for too: "Make a dashboard of delivery performance by carrier" builds one in the background, like Create with AI.
Agent tasks
For hard, multi-step questions ("find this supplier's parent company and its latest revenue"), the assistant can hand the work to an agent task with its own budget. The run appears in Agent activity with live steps. See Agents.
Good to know
- Ordinary edits. Changes the assistant makes to a table are edits like yours: the record's History shows who changed what, and AI columns it runs are marked AI run.
- One request at a time. Long work can take several steps; Stop generating stops it, and changes already made stay in place.
- Pictures in dashboards and decks are ones you upload or link.
