Writing messages

Messages in channels and direct messages work the same way: type in the box at the bottom ("Message #dyspozytornia"), add files or a voice message, and press Enter. This page covers everything you can do with a message once it is there: threads, reactions, pins, the conversation's files, and finding a message again.

Before you start

  • You can write in every conversation you are in. In a public channel you only preview, join it first ("Join this channel to write in it.").
  • Viewers write, react and send files like everyone else.

The message box

  • Enter sends, Shift+Enter starts a new line ("Shift+Enter for a new line"). A message can be up to 8,000 characters.
  • Bold, lists and links work as you type them.
  • What you have not sent stays as a draft in that conversation; the list shows it ("Draft: …").
  • Mention someone (the @ button, or type @) lists "People in this channel". @channel and @here notify everyone in the channel. Someone who is not in the channel is marked "Not in this channel, they will not be notified".
  • @Quanty, or @ and an agent's name, brings AI into the conversation (see AI assistant).
  • Emoji: the button, or type : and a word.

Paste the address of a table, view, board, record, document, dashboard or other Quanty item and the box shows how it will look ("Will show as"): a chip with the item's icon and name. Each reader sees the chip as their own access allows; someone who cannot open the item sees "Unavailable link", which names nothing. A record of a work-tracked table shows its key and status (see Subtasks, blockers and links).

Message actions

Hover over a message for its toolbar: Add reaction, Reply in thread and More actions.

Threads

Reply in thread opens the thread next to the conversation, so a side discussion does not interrupt the channel.

  • Under the original message, the channel shows the people in the thread, "2 replies" and "Last reply 10 minutes ago".
  • Threads are one level deep: you reply to a message, not to a reply.
  • The thread panel can be opened wider (Expand the thread) and has its own Ask AI for "Summarize this thread".
  • Threads in the list collects every thread you started or replied in; new replies are marked New replies.

Reactions

Pick an emoji from the quick row or the full picker (Choose a reaction, with Recently used and categories). Click a reaction to add yours or take it back; point at it to see who reacted. A message can hold up to 20 different reactions.

Files, pictures, videos and voice messages

Attach files with the paperclip (Attach files), drag them onto the conversation ("Drop files to add them"), or paste them. Pasting works wherever your focus is in the conversation, and files copied in your computer's file manager paste too ("2 files added from the clipboard").

LimitValue
Files per message10 ("You can attach up to 10 files to one message.")
A fileUp to 50 MB
A video (MP4, MOV, WebM, M4V)Up to 200 MB
A voice messageUp to 5 minutes
  • Pictures show as a grid; click one for the picture viewer with Previous picture, Next picture and Download.
  • Videos play in the message and go full screen.
  • Other files show as a card with the name and size, and download with one click.
  • Voice messages: the microphone button (Record a voice message (up to 5 min)), Stop recording, listen back, and Send voice message. The player shows a waveform and plays faster (Playback speed).

Some file types cannot be sent ("Files of this type cannot be sent."). Files count towards your organization's storage; when it is full, "Your organization has used all of its storage. Free up space or add more to send files." Every file sent in Chat is also filed in Files, under Messages and the channel's name, with the same people allowed to open it.

Pinned messages

Pin a message so it is easy to find: Pin to conversation in More actions. The message shows "Pinned by Kasia Próbna". Only messages in the conversation itself can be pinned, not replies in a thread.

Pinned messages.

Open the list with ⋯, Pinned messages (the menu shows their number). The newest pin comes first, with who wrote it and who pinned it ("Pinned by Kasia Próbna · 15:06"). Click a pinned message to jump to it in the conversation. Anyone who can write here can unpin from the panel. The list is on the full Chat page, not in the Chat panel.

Files and media

⋯, Files and media lists everything shared in the conversation, so you do not have to scroll back for it.

Files and media of a channel.
The Files and media panel of #dyspozytornia: Find a file by name, the tabs All, Pictures, Videos, Files and Links, Sent by, and the picture kwit-ZL-0424.jpg sent by Piotr Spedytor under November 2026
  • Tabs All, Pictures, Videos, Files (documents, call recordings, transcripts and voice messages) and Links.
  • Find a file by name (or Find a link on Links), and Sent by for one person's files.
  • Newest first, grouped by month. Pictures and videos open in the viewer with Show in conversation.

You see the files of the conversations you can read, and nothing else. The panel is on the full Chat page.

Search messages looks through the conversations you can see: Search in this conversation, or Everywhere. Filters narrow it: From (a person), In (a conversation), Contains (A file, A link, A voice message) and Before (a date). "Type at least two characters to search."

Search finds whole words and words that start with what you type, so "awiz" finds "awizacja". Capital letters and accents make no difference: "gdansk" finds "Gdańsk". Letters in the middle of a word are not found.

Unread messages

Every conversation with something new shows how many messages are unread, and "2 new, 1 mentioning you". A New messages line marks where you stopped reading, and Go to latest jumps down. Times are on the 24-hour clock (14:05), and dates put the day first.

Good to know

  • Deleted is deleted in the conversation. A deleted message is gone for everyone; the conversation shows "This message was deleted.". The copies of its files in Files go to the Trash, where they can be restored for 30 days. A call recording's copies in Files stay until someone deletes them there.
  • Mentions of people outside the channel do not notify them; add them first.
  • Old messages on smaller plans. On Silver, messages older than 90 days are hidden until you upgrade (see Chat).
